Infant and Young Child Feeding: a tool for assessing national practices, policies, and programmes This three-part tool is designed to help users assess the strengths and weaknesses of policies and programs for protecting, promoting and supporting optimal feeding practices, and determine where improvements may be needed to meet the aim and objectives of the Global Strategy for Infant and Young Child Feeding. WHO and LINKAGES were jointly responsible for developing the tool. In addition, a large number of experts provided a variety of technical inputs. These experts included individuals affiliated with the Academy for Educational Development, Wellstart International, USAID, UNICEF, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action, and a number of nongovernmental organizations from around the world. The tool was field-tested in Bolivia, Chile, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Russia, Sri Lanka, and the United Kingdom. Part
